Background

The Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program has expanded resources to provided additional support to organizations that wish to support workforce development for Women Veterans. V3 Certified Organizations can earn special designation as a Women Veteran-Friendly Employer by attending a supplemental training. This designation will provide organizations with exclusive access to women veteran talent, tools and unique engagement opportunities with the Virginia Women Veterans Program.

The Virginia Women Veteran Program was created and authorized by Governor Ralph Northam and the 2018 General Assembly in recognition that more than 100,000 women veterans now live in the Commonwealth.

Virginia has a unique opportunity to help Veterans gain career employment. Our Commonwealth has one of the youngest Veterans population in the United States, and the fastest growing Veteran labor force in the United States. Moreover, Virginia has the highest per capita of Women Veterans of any state in the U.S. Thousands of new Veterans enter Virginia’s workforce each year, and that number is projected to rise in the coming years.

 

 

Women Veteran-Friendly designation not only provides organizations with workforce tools, it also provides employers with resources to support their existing employees. Women veterans are afforded the ability to attend regional roundtables, the Women Veteran Summit, Women Veteran Pinning Ceremony and other program events. In addition employees can participate in peer-to-peer support groups, provide mentorships, receive quality of life support, receive access to health and transition support, etc.

Service Women by the Numbers

Education Support:

The Military Education & Workforce Initiative (MEWI) Laptop Initiative provides veterans attending Reynolds Community College or Brightpoint Community College with a FREE laptop.

  1. Complete Technology Assistance Application
  2. Provide Proof of Service/Marriage (Spouses)

Applications are reviewed, approved and distributed on a first come-first serve basis until all laptops are distributed. *The Veteran & Spouse Technology Initiative by the Military Education and Workforce Initiative (MEWI) is sponsored by Altria.

 

Boots To Suits:

Boots to Suits is a clothing program for male and female Virginia veterans transitioning from military life to civilian careers. The program provides veterans with two complimentary career outfits, enabling them to look and feel their best for job interviews and non-military work environments. Military spouses who are job-seeking and the main household provider are also eligible for this opportunity. If you are within 60 days of your separation date and would like to participate, click here to submit your request.

The V3 Transition Connection is a bi-weekly distribution of job postings from V3 Certified Organizations seeking to hire veterans. Each posting will host a unique set of job openings for all levels of occupations all across the Commonwealth. The newsletter also includes upcoming events, programs, and other valuable information. Additional Employment Pathways:

The V3 Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program advocates for veterans hand’s on health care experience looking to start or continue a career in Virginia’s healthcare system. Veterans can get connected to MMAC Partner Healthcare Systems through the MMAC Qualified, No Veteran Left Behind and Healthcare Leadership pathways. How it Works

To begin, submit an Online Application via the link below. A member of the V3 team will provide assistance with training, and earning V3 certification for FREE.

Step 2:

Onboard

The V3 Team puts on regular V3 employer training seminars throughout the state, as well as conducts online training seminars to help enrolled V3 organizations complete the training requirements for state certification.

Join

After certification, your organization is listed in our “Certified Companies” page. After being certified you may be eligible to apply for the V3 Grant for qualified Veterans employed by your company/agency or participate in membership perks.
