Hiring Virginia’s Veterans, Reservist and Active Duty Service Members

Hiring Virginia’s Veterans, Reservist and Active Duty Service Members

The Commonwealth of Virginia has the greatest number of veterans in the workforce per capita in America and has added more veterans to its workforce than all other states combined.

With the 8th most diverse veteran population among the 50 states, Virginia provides access to the nations most skilled workforce – veterans.

The V3 Program, under the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) connects Virginia’s veterans and their families to federal and state benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned.

The V3 Program makes it easy. An assigned V3 Employer Liaison will guide you every step of the way through the process of becoming a Certified Member and provide ongoing support to help you achieve your hiring goals. Enroll, onboard and join in just three simple steps:

• Networking Events and Job Fairs – Participate in events within your community and on military installations where you can meet and engage with military-affiliated job seekers.
• V3 Transition Support – The V3 Transition Program gives you a direct pipeline to military members as they are preparing to transition from active duty to
civilian—providing you one more way to address your immediate hiring needs.
• Military Medics and Corpsman (MMAC) Program – Employment in the healthcare sector is projected to grow 16 percent from 2020 to 2030, adding more jobs than any other occupational group. The MMAC Program helps military medics and corpsmen transition to civilian roles while working to become credentialled. The program also helps other medical professionals with placement including paramedics, nurses, technicians, and administrative positions.

Marketing & Branding
• Marketing & Public Relations – Your company will be listed on the official V3 website. Employers are eligible for an Employer Spotlight in the agency newsletter and to be recognized through other media and social channels.
• V3 Awards Summit – You will receive complimentary tickets to statewide military/workforce conferences and the annual V3 Awards Summit, where participating companies are recognized by state leadership.
• Veteran-Friendly Branding – You can proudly display your V3 Certified Member Seal and other V3 Program promotional material to identify your company as part of a statewide effort to support Veteran and military spouse workforce development.

Employee Training Benefits
Becoming a V3 Certified Member allows you to tap into valuable programs to offset some of your company’s hiring and training costs.

• V3 Grants – You can receive up to $10,000 in grants—$1,000 per eligible Veteran hired. Employers with fewer than 300 employees, at the time of grant application, may qualify.
• SkillBridge – The SkillBridge program provides transitioning service members with the opportunity to work in a civilian job for 4-24 weeks, prior to separation from the military. Your company serves as the service member’s duty station and the Department of Defense continues to pay for the service member’s salary during program participation.
• On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Apprenticeships – Working in partnership with the State Approving Agency (SAA), employers and educational institutions can qualify as G.I. Bill-approved OJT and apprenticeship programs. Veterans may apply for housing, tuition, and educational stipends to supplement pay while completing training through an accredited program.

Be Part of a Supportive Community
• Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) – VDVS is here to ensure that your Veteran and military spouse employees are taken care of and have access to the benefits, services, and resources they need and deserve.
• Community Impact – V3 partners may support the Virginia Veterans Foundation to further the mission of the V3 Program as well as donate goods or services to make a community impact.
