Jail Officer: Provides custody and control of inmates in all custody levels (may be assigned to any security post). 

Performs work of a high degree of difficulty. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations governing the conduct of the inmate population and staff. Assumes responsibility for the security and welfare of inmates confined. Searches inmates and their living areas, as well as other areas of the ADC and vehicles prior to transport of inmates. Ensures all inmates observe acceptable personal hygiene. Conducts post checks as required to include inmate counts and bed checks. Monitors and updates post logs, writes reports and documents incidents. Responds to emergencies and uses physical and other force as necessary to control the situation. Inspects security devices, including bars, keys, locks, windows, doors, and other equipment and apparatus. Immediately reports all discrepancies. Escorts inmates as required.
