Operation Pipe Crew: Know OSHA safety and trenching regulations.
- Be able to always operate excavator in a safe way (will always be around other workers) Lifting and setting pipe and structures.
- Experience with excavating trenches for a pipe crew.
- Able to work around underground utilities (telephones, gas lines, etc.).
- Good sight, depth perception necessary.
- Keep equipment in good working condition (grease, oil, water, etc.). Clean tracks.
- Report anything wrong with equipment.
- Be aware what is always going on around him/her.
- Talk to pipelayer and work as team player.
- Dig in trench boxes.
- Separate dirt (occasionally). Topsoil or mud separated from good.
- Get along with other crew members.
